Why It Matters

Understanding the ingredients in our food—and why they truly matter.

Taking a Closer Look at Our Food

Let’s talk about the ingredients you eat—and why they’re so important. In today’s world, it’s easy to overlook what goes into our meals, especially when so many options are heavily processed or loaded with additives we can barely pronounce. I’m not here to push a specific diet or sound alarmist, but there’s no denying we should be more mindful of what we eat.

Perhaps you’ve noticed that your children (or even you) seem to react differently after eating certain foods—changes in mood, energy, or behavior. If you haven’t, now might be the time to start paying attention. Over time, ingredients like artificial flavors, colors, and preservatives can take a real toll on our bodies. While I’m not saying all processed foods are harmful, when they show up in almost everything we buy, it’s tough to avoid the long-term effects.

One Step at a Time

I’m not here to sell you on a particular diet—I just encourage you to try cooking more of your meals with whole, minimally processed ingredients. That alone can make a huge difference in how you feel. Even cooking one homemade meal a week is a great start!

Another simple change is switching away from refined seed oils (like canola or soybean) and opting for healthier alternatives such as tallow, olive oil, avocado oil, or coconut oil. It doesn’t matter if you’re vegan, vegetarian, carnivore, or anything in between—everyone can benefit from more whole foods and fewer additives.

Don’t just take my word for it—feel free to do your own research, or explore the rest of my website. I truly believe that being mindful of what’s on our plates is one of the best ways to care for ourselves and the people we love. Once you start looking beyond the labels, you’ll discover how good you can actually feel.
